Hi, I’m Lara, and I am the writer of Six Times the Yum. More info on me to come soon in the “About Me” tab.

The name “Six Times the Yum” was inspired by my goal of living a healthy life. Part of a healthy life includes eating a balanced diet. I believe (and know) a balanced diet includes incorporating all five food groups – plus oils and sugar (the “sixth category”) – and their appropriate amounts into my daily eats.

I include oil and sugar for a few reasons.

  1. A healthy diet includes a balance of protein, fat, and carbohydrates.
  2. Everything is good in moderation, including oil and sugar… and moderation.
  3. Take away all baked goods from me, and I will slap you.

In each post, I hope to showcase (or include) two or more of the “six” food groups. I will share well-rounded recipes and meals. But I’m not going to lie; a few unhealthy recipes and foods will show up. (I’m not prefect.) I hope to use my experience as a college student (one semester down, seven to go!) to write on a myriad of themes, ranging from how I avoid the freshmen 15 to preparing healthy no-cook breakfasts and snacks. If you live a busy life (and face it, who doesn’t?), Six Times the Yum is for you.

I started Six Times the Yum to share my food-related endeavors with you, my readers. So, please leave comments, share what you think, pass on the word about this blog to your friends, and tell me what you want to see on this blog!

I hope to blog regularly, at least once a week (in the beginning). Hopefully, as Six Times the Yum finds a flow, I will be able to post more regularly.

Future blog posts will include:

  • Recipes
  • Dining hall and restaurants eats
  • Quick/easy, healthy breakfast and snacks
  • Lessons learned in college
  • How I avoid the freshmen 15
  • Products and foods I love
  • Eating healthy: tips from my own experience
  • Eating and exercise
  • And much more!

But you know what? Who am I kidding? While I may have plans for this blog, I can’t define its future path right now. I won’t be able to stay on topic all the time. I won’t have healthy recipes 100% of the time. This blog will have it’s own spirit and path. I’m only human. And that’s the way I like it! What I can promise you is that I will always write about what I’m passionate about, whatever that ends up being. 🙂
